The Vice President – Technology Strategy & Portfolio at AEO will innovate upon the relationship between our technology, our brands and our internal and external customers.  Our $4.5B selling channels are strong with stores recording consecutive quarters of positive comps and a $1 billion digital business which continues to grow rapidly, AEO, Inc is proud of American Eagle as the leading jeans retailer and Aerie as the fastest growing brand in the market.  As we remain focused on our strategic pillars to grow the American Eagle brand, accelerate the expansion of Aerie and further elevate the customer experience, we are seeking a leader that will help us leverage the latest technologies, operating models, platforms, eco-systems and capabilities to maintain this leadership position.


As the leader of Technology Strategy and Portfolio at AEO, you will create a robust, thorough and transformative strategic plan to modernize our technology organization moving us to a fully agile organization utilizing cloud native capabilities and a micro services based architecture. This includes the facilitation of a continual strategic planning process, the creation of the strategic roadmap, and oversight of strategic initiatives and alignment of the leadership team.  As a direct report to the CTO, this role is responsible for the assembly, accuracy and clarity of the overall technology portfolio including both the digital transformation efforts within the technology team and the overall delivery of technology capabilities for our customers and associates.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Organize, coordinate, govern and provide guidance for the Technology Strategy and Technology Portfolio roadmap
  • Maintain a deep knowledge of industry trends, advancements and new capabilities
  • Collaborate with technology leadership to determine key areas of focus, need and opportunity in service of the strategy and portfolio
  • Oversee planning, resourcing, and execution of all strategic roadmap initiatives
  • Provide consistent support, tools, and methods to project leaders for the completion of projects against defined objectives and key results (OKR’s)
  • Coordinate regular Technology Steering Committee meetings
  • Communicate strategy and portfolio performance across the organization, leadership and Board of Directors 
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree required, Master’s preferred
  • 10+ years related experience in complex project and program management, with demonstrated expertise in large-scale organizational change, process reengineering, digital/technology enablement or similar transformational initiatives
  • Demonstrated collaborative leadership skills and influence to transform an organization from a monolithic to a modern micro services cloud based agile environment 
  • Experience working with remote teams across geographies and time zones (AEO Technology team members work in Eastern, Central, and Pacific time zones) 
  • High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, project and portfolio management applications, and web-based tools
  • Outstanding leadership, communication and organizational skills
