POSITION TITLE: VP – Global Logistics
REPORTS TO: SVP – Global Supply Chain, Logistics & Services
DIRECT REPORTS: Leads a team of 3 Sr. Directors/Directors w/ total personnel of ~35+ FTEs

As the VP of Global Logistics at AEO, Inc., you will be responsible for streamlining the global logistics operations, driving business transformation, and building new solutions to simplify business processes and deliver on strategic objectives. The primary focus of this position is to drive excellence in the movement of 200M+ units worldwide annually. You will be responsible for continuously assessing and optimizing all logistics processes, assets, and services in order to meet AEO’s operational goals. In addition, you will inspire your team and lead efforts to deliver sound operating results; exceeding customer expectations, optimizing spend, delivering innovation and developing a talented team.

Your responsibilities include:

•Responsible for the annual movement of 200M+ units and control of $300M+ in direct spend world-wide. This includes supply chain operations supporting AEO owned and operated retail businesses in the US, Canada, Mexico, and Hong Kong as well as our franchise partners across the globe via a transport hub in Singapore.


•Leading the operational strategies, planning and execution of AEO’s Global Logistics solutions, in accordance with other business strategy planning, to meet AEO’s short and long-term goals. This entails frequent interaction with C-suite/executive leadership and collaboration across the supply chain.


•Increasing velocity of inbound and outbound logistics, and delivering cost savings in overall transportation spend including digital/DTC.


•Developing and activating a 2-day delivery network where possible; test and deploy next day and same day network work feasible.


•Developing “in-market” and “last mile” operations including developing efficient “last mile” capabilities for OMNI commerce delivery model.


•Developing the right asset control solutions for enabling same day, next day and 2 day networks to drive customer delight and improved experience.


•Building innovation zone skipping solutions and enabling predictive shipping for AEO customers and building a 2 day regional carrier & national carrier network.


•Fostering collaborative relationships with various leaders and serving as a role model leader for the organization; displaying thought leadership and alignment with the Company’s strategies and core values.


•Driving supply chain efficiency/effectiveness as well as solutions to meet ever-changing customer service expectations; pushing innovative solutions for the betterment of our Customers as well as in support of the overall business strategy.


•Ensuring effective expense management and development/implementation of strategies to drive reductions in costs while maintaining or improving service level to all stores and customers.


•Implementing improved processes and methods to generate higher ROI and workflow optimization, including implementing productivity/quality metrics and programs designed to minimize costs and enhance efficiency.


•Prioritizing transportation-related initiatives to optimize delivery; translating strategy into a plan to meet operational and financial requirements on a consistent basis.


•Ongoing development and monitoring of the quality and capability of the logistics network to ensure that needs are being met in accordance with key performance indicators.


•Directing the preparation and negotiation of air and ocean contracts and overseeing negotiations of contracts in partnership with AEO Legal teams and direct report(s).


•Building and scaling logistics operations that enable customer personalization and localization experiences.


•Building cross-functional partnerships, leveraging insights from various areas of the business to inform planning, processes and growing capability for the Global Logistics function.


•Leading and coaching teams through a wide array of topics including business strategy to the tactical execution of the strategy; providing expertise on complex topics, leaning on prior experiences and know-how to guide others to meet or exceed goals.


•Championing the development of associates, ensuring robust succession plans are developed and in place at all levels of the function.


•Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

•Bachelor’s Degree required in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field. Advanced Degree (Master’s / MBA) required


•Minimum of 15+ years’ experience working with ocean & airfreight carriers (retail preferred)


•10+ years direct experience with the development and or management of Supply Chain/Logistics software systems


•Customs Compliance (international multi-country), negotiation, and documentation requirements experience required


•Demonstrated ability of managing cost performance, supply/demand forecasting; experience working with a large, global retail organization


•Strong understanding of transportation management methods


•Experience with data-driven analytics, metrics, KPIs to measure and drive results


•Demonstrated experience leading a diverse, high-performing team which includes fostering “ready now” talent as future successors for key roles


•Ability to travel, including international


•Experience in a global organization of building and managing global logistic team is a plus


•Fast moving retail and ecommerce business a plus


Experience Requirements:

•Strategic Planning- Strong critical thinking skills and experience building strategic plans


•Global Experience- Experience leveraging 3rd parties globally (i.e., in support of logistics capabilities and licenses business)


•Leading Across Functions- Successful track record amongst multi-team projects/partners/peers involving other teams/locations

•Change Management- Experience leading teams through change, and challenging the status quo
