The Sr. Site Merchandising Manager owns the digital merchandising of a brand on the AE.com website, driving category sales.  The Sr. Site Merchandising Manager will partner with cross functional business partners to optimize online merchandising to grow sales and maximize margin and inventory turn in alignment with category and overall Omni-channel strategies.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


Leadership:

  • Lead and develop a team of site merchandisers
  • Ensure site merchant teams are bringing compelling ideas and analytics to the forefront for assigned categories
  • Manage cross-functional relationships and lead team through change and ambiguity
  • Ensure site merchant team is executing to and meeting key deadlines
  • Think globally to better support and tailor experiences for domestic and international markets online

Product Assortment and Sales:

  • Partner with Merchandising, Planning and Marketing teams to optimize online strategies for growing sales while maximizing margin and inventory turn
  • Provide input on category’s online assortment plan and assortment strategy to influence the development of the Omni assortment architecture and financial plan
  • Partner with Business Strategies, Planning and Buying teams to determine and recommend changes to promotional needs in order to hit sales plans  
  • Own updating the digital components of the integrated marketing plan in partnership with business strategies and marketing
  • Ensure the site delivers upon omni product narratives and marketing strategies consistently
  • Actively participate in merchandising business meetings

Product/Customer Experience:

  • Translate Omni channel strategy into online experience inclusive of the website and mobile site/app, including decisions that improve product page views and conversion rates and impact category and family pages (e.g. which products to highlight), product pages (e.g. which attributes must be listed) and online taxonomy, navigation and sorting
  • Own the digital merchandising of categories on the AE/aerie website and mobile site/app driving category sales including the visual display of the category online pages. Expert use of BCC (Business Control Center) interface to achieve parity on website platform
  • Partner with Experience Manager team to differentiate content, shops & navigation across sites and devices as needed
  • Manage the flow of equity, product descriptions and any additional guide needs in partnership with merchandising and marketing
  • Formulate category strategies by creating differentiated Omni channel shopping experiences for key customer segments, leveraging a deep understanding of key customer needs and shopping behaviors
  • Adjust site merchandising strategy based on customer feedback, competitor actions, in-stock shifts and other dynamic considerations
  • Partner closely with UX team to ensure optimal customer experience
  • Provide informed recommendations to UX and Product Managers on guide and feature needs as well as site functionality and overall customer experience
  • Approve push down of terms and conditions for weekly promotions
  • Manage site pushes and timing/cadence of pushes

Analytics & KPI's:

  • Examine and assess category merchandising strategies of key competitors and best-in-class online retailers to understand emerging trends and developments.  Provide recommendation to omni merchant, marketing and other key partners
  • Partner with Performance Marketing on digital marketing campaigns and SEO efforts to optimize search-related traffic including editing copy for product page to incorporate new key words in product descriptions
  • Influence key strategic business decisions (e.g. campaigns, promotions) using sophisticated analysis of online metrics
  • Partner with testing and site optimization team to suggest, implement and read A/B tests
  • Manage website KPI’s including category conversion, site exit rate, abandoned carts, etc.
  • Additional projects and responsibilities as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Fashion Merchandising, Business Administration, or related field
  • 7+  years of buying, planning or digital retail merchandising experience
  • Ability to lead and develop a team
  • Experience managing to sales and margin goals as well as analyzing website metrics and optimizing merchandising to drive sales
  • Experience working with buying and planning organizations
  • Deep understanding of how customers shop online and in what ways that differs from their in-store shopping experience and habits
  • Strong business acumen
  • In-depth analytical skills and results oriented
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team
  • Ability to work with and influence peers and senior management
  • Experience with HTML or CMS, a plus
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and/or holidays
