POSITION TITLE:  Senior HR Director, Supply Chain, Distribution and Logistics

REPORTS TO:       SVP – Human Resources

STATUS:                Full -Time Exempt

SUPERVISES:      HR Distribution Center leaders and Corporate HRBP

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Director, HR- Supply Chain provides strategic and tactical leadership for all aspects of HR, including employee relations, change management, coaching, talent assessment/development, succession planning, performance management and organizational design. This individual oversees a large team of HR Business Partners supporting over 3,000 employees. This leader has accountability for our Supply Chain corporate teams, three Distribution Centers (DCs) in the US and Canada, and a newly acquired logistics start-up organization that is rapidly scaling. This position requires strong partnerships across the organization to ensure alignment of company-wide HR initiatives that support the success of our business strategies. This leader should have superior strategic expertise, business acumen, and demonstrated experience in building/retaining trust and relationships across the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the primary HR Business Partner to the Chief Supply Chain  officer
  • Directly manage a team of 3 HR leaders and an indirect team of over 20, ensure that all team members are provided clear expectations, direction and are empowered to achieve their goals
  • Maintain a strong focus on creating positive working environments and ensure management and employee relations remain collaborative and supportive
  • Consult, advise, and counsel Supply Chain Leadership and DC HR Managers on employee relations issues to ensure fair and equitable treatment for all employees
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to implement talent management, compensation, learning and development and benefit strategies that align with overall business needs
  • Continually assess and evaluate HR practices for recommendation and implementation of industry best practices, programs and systems to support Supply Chain
  • Create, guide and facilitate workforce planning, succession planning and organization structure input to achieve business objectives
  • Create robust and proactive workforce plans for our DCs, planning for current and future needs and anticipating where/how the workforce will evolve over time in an increasingly competitive labor market (i.e., introduction of new staffing models like gig/flex, workforce of the future, upskilling, etc.)
  • Identify potential areas of opportunities/risks and create mitigation strategies related to our people, talent, and culture goals
  • Ensure alignment to all AEO policies and compliance with state/federal employment legislation in partnership with Legal and Compliance
  • Analyze data and benchmarking insights to identify better ways of working, attracting and retaining talent in a competitive and rapidly evolving landscape for our Corporate roles and Distribution Center roles at all levels
  • Create and execute new leader assimilation plans for newly hired and promoted talent, ensuring people have the tools and resources to be successful in their roles
  • Respond to the needs and concerns of associates to foster and maintain an inclusive environment in line with AEO values

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MA/MBA in HR, Labor Relations or related field preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience in supply chain environments
  • Relevant HR leadership experience including organizational change management initiatives, communications development, organizational design and development, HR strategy and operations; DC leadership experience preferred
  • Track record of leading transformational change in an energetic and positive manner
  • Experience leading large, cross-functional projects, including business reorganizations
  • Experience supporting workshops, large meetings, or presentations to senior leaders
  • Ability to execute a project plan, managing to deadlines
  • Demonstrated strong business acumen and ability to work effectively across teams, levels and varying professional styles
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills (MS PowerPoint) and data analysis (MS Excel)
  • Strong problem-solving and strategic thinking skills with the ability to exercise discretion and sound judgment
  • Ability to travel by plane and overnight
