As the Senior HR Director, you will be a people strategists ensuring organizational development enables business strategy, a change leader consistently challenging the status quo to continuously evolve and a culture champion embedding our values into all aspects of the way we work and being a catalyst for cross-functional/collaborative work.

Specifically, in this newly created role, you will be responsible for working closely with teams that support the American Eagle (AE) brand in our New York and Pittsburgh offices to align brand initiatives in a consultative manner ensuring our people strategies are aligned with business priorities.

Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting the AE brand leadership; leveraging people and culture strategies to have a positive impact on important change initiatives with a focus on uniting the brand cross-functional teams which span multiple disciplines and multiple locations 
Building support and advocacy for the organizational design; developing an in-depth understanding of the required talent capabilities in order to create and execute long-range talent and succession roadmaps
Identifying and developing talent capabilities required to meet departmental and Company goals; requiring a combination of thoughtful change management actions and on-going HR partnership in order to build relationships and unite teams
Supporting and executing AEO’s ongoing talent management lifecycle strategies (talent acquisition, learning and development, performance management, workforce and succession planning, etc.); in alignment with AEO’s core values, working closely with brand leaders to optimize roles, responsibilities, talent and performance to achieve the Company’s goals
Identifying potential opportunities/risks and creating mitigation strategies related to our people, talent and culture goals; ensuring alignment to all AEO policies and compliance with state/federal employment legislation
Providing coaching for executives and leadership including topics of change management, organizational design, culture, workforce planning, leadership development and associate relations 
Creating opportunities to help sharpen skill-sets in a global, fast-changing environment; including fostering on-the-job learning experiences, formal development and informal individual/team coaching
Using data and benchmarking insights to identify better ways of working; attracting and retaining talent across all areas of American Eagle 
Creating and executing new leader assimilation plans for newly hired and / or promoted talent; ensuring people have the tools and resources to be successful in their roles 
Responding to the needs and concerns of associates either formally/Open Door or informally; working in collaboration with various leaders and support teams as needed to ensure an environment where everyone can be themselves and thrive 
Additional duties as assigned 


Minimum of 7-10+ years of relevant HR leadership experience including organizational change management initiatives, communications development, organizational design and development, HR strategy or operations
Demonstrated capabilities in teamwork and leadership, including the desire and eagerness to mentor and assist in the professional development of others
Experience leading large, cross-functional projects 
Experience in HR, Consulting, and/or Corporate Communications
Experience supporting workshops, large meetings, or presentations to senior leaders
Ability to execute a project plan, managing to deadlines and paying acute attention to detail
Demonstrated strong business acumen and ability to work effectively across teams, levels and varying professional styles 
Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills (MS PowerPoint), and data analysis (MS Excel)
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise discretion and sound judgment
Ability to travel by plane and overnight
