POSITION SUMMARY:

In this role the Sr. Director of Copy and Brand Voice will create and reinforce the American Eagle brand voice and narrative across all channels. This person will architect seasonal marketing concepts and creative strategy in partnership with the executive creative director and will execute creative strategy to drive engagement and brand awareness.


OVERVIEW:

  • Provide conceptual and strategic direction for brand voice
  • Develop and direct brand voice/narrative
  • Partner closely with both the digital and retail CDs to collaborate on concept development across all channels
  • Enable a partnership between art and copy throughout the creative organization
  • Lead team of 4 copywriters
  • Develop seasonal story with ECD
  • Define and prioritize key marketing/editorial messages of season
  • Map out storytelling across all channels to align with marketing strategy
  • Ideate big picture thinking on new brands/direction including Mood
  • Plan/create content captured on shoots for social and blog platform
  • Product naming/equity/pdp and direction for seasonal collections and capsules
  • Direct voice across all channels:
  • Floorsets and store experience from windows to dressing rooms, all touchpoints
    • Websets from homepage to landing page
    • Email/sms
    • Ooh/Media
    • Social
    • Loyalty
    • Music
    • Events/Pop-ups
  • Ensure all editorial/content strategy has meaningful connection to overall marketing strategy
  • Partner with legal to ensure usage and ownability on equity and IP
  • Provide creative editorial support for strategic corporate priorities


LEADERSHIP

  • Inspire and support copywriters and creative marketing team
  • Identify and communicate priorities to team and guide deliverables
  • Review all work and manage production processes


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10+ years of building stories in agencies or in-house related experience required.
  • Consumer experience writing digital, print, direct mail, and collateral. Business-to-business experience is a plus.
  • 3+ years experience in retail, advertising, public relations or marketing with a strong emphasis on copywriting and editing.
  • 3+ years experience working in e-commerce.
  • Extremely strong leader who can manage multiple teams and expectations
  • Outstanding oral, written, and presentation skills
  • Can look at brands from a fresh angle
  • Strong knowledge of interaction Design, technology, usability and experience design
  • Able to impact team’s understanding of how to create great work!
