Seasonally analyze and strategize key trends and concepts and be able to adapt those trends and concepts to all classifications to further evolve the American Eagle Outfitters brand. This position will be responsible for the design and production of original art, re-colorizations and repeats for seasonal pattern and print development.  


Identify current market trends seasonally and translate them into the American Eagle philosophy
Objectively evaluate and articulate your evaluation of other classifications and give objective criticism of the entire collection
Lead the CAD team to evolve the product seasonally to achieve a balance of commercial and a fresh approach to the classification
Understand merchandising concepts and have working dialogue with buyers and head merchants
Establish full knowledge of all technical aspects involved in development and execution of  a classification
Partner with buyer to ensure customer choice counts are covered each season and that the American Eagle Outfitter concept is evolving at the same speed as the current market
Make full presentations from concept presentations to merchandising analysis
Have a thorough knowledge of presentation techniques and be able to confidently field questions from leadership
Work with Design/ Conceptual teams to review pattern color trend direction and interpret into artwork appropriate for brand
Create and illustrate print, yarn-dye and knit patterns using CAD tools
Create technical breakdown of all pattern layout and plaid specifications for design as communication tool for vendor fabric development
Develop pattern repeats and produce alternate colorways for developed prints and plaids
Lead the CAD team in creating production ready artwork, in both print and electronic format, for internal and external partners 
Collaborate with Design to approve strike offs and knitdowns for print and pattern 
Create, manage and maintain print and pattern re-colorization
Collaborate with design on all colorway approvals
Collaborate with Design on the visualization, presentation, and communication of pattern concepts through CAD artwork
Coordinate with Technology team to ensure appropriate equipment needs and maintenance for department 
Research market trends domestically and internationally and have the ability to evaluate trends as they relate to American Eagle Outfitters


BA Degree in Design or Textile Design (or equivalent experience in CAD Design)
5-10 years of related print and pattern design experience; Men's experience preferred
Knowledge of repeat patterns, textile printing, photoreal, yarn dye reproduction
Experience with a range of textile media
Strong sense of color for the creation of color ways and the ability to match colors accurately  
Experience with CAD systems (NedGraphics, Kaledo etc.) a must 
Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator & PhotoShop required 
Previous experience successfully leading a team
Strong leadership, organizational, time management and communication skills
