As the Sr. Analyst of Inbound Flow Operations / Transload at AEO, Inc., you will work closely within the Global Inbound Operations team and across all US third-party logistics Transloaders operations & domestic inbound carriers to ensure the timely flow of goods to AEO’s distribution centers. Specifically, you’ll deliver against our global logistics goals and strategies by creating effective freight movement plans and managing the timely completion of all shipping instructions, while utilizing cost efficient services specific to PO level requirements. Your efforts will result in improved speed, cost and service to our internal/external customers and drive reliability across our supply chain operation. 

 

Your responsibilities include:

 

  • In collaboration with the Sr. Manager - Inbound Flow Operations / Transload, and the broader Supply Chain teams, developing plans that increase the velocity of inbound logistics; owning plans that effectively move freight to various processing nodes across the DC network (Third Party Logistics/Transloaders, AEO DCs, In-Market DCs, etc.)
  • Driving and performing inbound flow operational actions in conjunction with all US third party logistics partners for AEO, Inc.; building effective freight movement plans, planning and monitoring pick up appointments (ocean and air), and managing all freight movement amongst Transloaders/DCs
  • Determining and deploying tactics for effective draying (owned vs. 3PL); advising on estimated time of arrival by DC and accounting for any exceptions or variables to the original plan; proactively working towards solutions to minimize delays and downtime; ensuring adequate operational progress is made during weekends and holidays as appropriate
  • Ensuring the effective handling and movement of freight by Transloaders in order to achieve receipt plan commitments to the AEO Distribution Centers/Stores; ensuring deployment of the right freight movement tactics (i.e., bypass, pass through Transload and freight mix) and sortation tactics (i.e., future, floor set, Hot POs, backstock)
  • Partnering with third-party logistics providers on their daily operations; ensuring efficient loads are built at the Transloaders in order to minimize wasted labor hours at the distribution/store level; performing load prioritization and ensuring effective routings while assisting with troubleshooting where needed
  • Participating in peak planning efforts including freight movement strategy (whether owned vs. 3PL dray, fleet needs, etc.); working collaboratively to deliver velocity and service enhancements to key stakeholders/customers in all regions and channels while optimizing costs and seeking system/process improvements
  • Collaborating with Global Inbound Operations & Inbound Planning teams to execute strategies for inbound, inter-Transloaders facility, and domestic inbound transportation; delivering an amazing experience to our customers. On time. In full. On budget. Every time.
  • Supporting the implementation of industry best practices within the global logistics function on transportation mode optimization and inbound flow and fulfillment operations
  • Completing domestic inbound department tasks including shipment planning and booking over-the-road and rail shipments to our distribution centers to result in improved speed, cost and service
  • Providing carrier and service level mix that drives cost savings and efficiencies, while meeting SLA commitments ; analyzing trends/performance metrics to anticipate and proactively assist with transportation delays; ensuring accurate and timely communication to the business on an on-going basis
  • Utilizing dashboards and reporting tools to proactively track/trace shipment activities; ensuring operational execution success and analytic insight where helpful; monitoring and resolving transportation related EDI data discrepancies and errors through AEO’s data repository; ensuring accurate and timely in-transit information
  • Reviewing daily status reports from Transloaders to ensure on time performance; facilitating communication between the Distribution Centers and external partners to maintain the efficient flow of freight through the network
  • Proactively engaging with International Inbound Transportation, Inbound Planning, and external partners to develop load prioritization, complete and accurate shipment planning and prioritizing volume in order to achieve established SLAs and deliver on time POs
  • Reviewing third party logistics providers & carrier scorecards to manage drayage, Transload, and carrier transit SLAs; identifying root cause exceptions to performance; creating and initiating action plans to mitigate and / or resolve service and performance issues
  • Partnering with third party logistics providers to develop and implement material handling procedures that monitor the cost and effectiveness of activities to optimize resource, prioritize spending and achieve volume timeliness and reliability
  • Utilizing analytical skills to identify opportunities to improve trade lane routing, increasing velocity and reducing transportation costs
  • Assisting Supply Chain Leadership Team in determining our network capacity needs both immediate and longer term
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications: 


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain/Logistics, or related field
  • 5+ years’ experience in supply chain operations and / or working with third party logistics providers
  • Experience managing domestic over the road and rail services
  • High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, & planning skills. Ability to identify trends within large data sets and make recommendations based on data analysis.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to explain logistics processes and problems to non-practitioners
  • Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team
  • Highly organized and efficient with strong attention to detail
  • Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) preferred
  • Certified in Supply Chain Management (CSCM) or LEAN/Six Sigma preferred
