POSITION TITLE:               Sr. Director – International Logistics   

REPORTS TO:                     SVP – Global Supply Chain  and to SVP - International

DIRECT REPORTS:           Leads a team of geographically dispersed logistics professionals (Asia, Mexico)

As the Sr. Director of International Logistics at AEO, Inc., you will be responsible for delivering logistics solutions and operations for our international markets. Specifically, you will work across a matrixed organizational structure to streamline in-country logistics operations, deliver go-to market strategies and secure appropriate logistics services to enable omni-channels retail operations. You will be responsible for continuously assessing and optimizing all international logistics processes and services in order to meet AEO’s operational goals. You will also build new solutions to simplify business processes and deliver on strategic objectives. You will inspire your team and lead efforts to deliver sound operating results; exceeding customer expectations, optimizing spend, delivering innovation and building  a talented team.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Leading the operational strategies, planning and execution of AEO’s international logistics solutions in support of our short and long-term international growth plans. This entails frequent interaction with C-suite/executive leadership and collaboration across the global supply chain and international teams.    
  • Leveraging your experience to develop multi-channel supply chain and logistics strategies, leaning upon a deep understanding of international markets (such as their unique characteristics/ challenges and trade practices) to build and enable speed of goods and services.
  • Developing the appropriate logistical solutions to achieve internal and external SLAs and improved customer experience across various go-to-market models – wholesale, license, marketplace – as well as across various platforms of operations – brick and mortar, ecommerce, and omin-channel (e.g., reverse logistics, store-to-door, click and collect, store to store, etc)
  • Effectively working within a matrixed environment with frequent travel; fostering collaborative relationships with various leaders and serving as a role model leader for the organization; displaying thought leadership and alignment with the Company’s strategies and core values.
  • Building a leading-edge capability by driving supply chain efficiency/effectiveness, network optimization, and solutions to meet ever-changing customer service expectations on an international scale; pushing innovative solutions for the betterment of our Customers as well as in support of the overall business strategy.
  • Leveraging an existing network of business relationships with vendors, 3PLs, freight forwarders, and transportation providers to achieve optimal logistics solutions that achieve internal and external customer service requirements
  • Ensuring effective expense management and development/implementation of strategies to drive reductions in costs while maintaining or improving service levels; manage cost and service performance in a balanced manner to enable business growth.
  • Implementing improved processes and methods to generate higher ROI and workflow optimization, including implementing productivity/quality metrics and programs designed to minimize costs and enhance efficiency.
  • Prioritizing logistics-related initiatives to optimize delivery; translating strategy into a plan to meet operational and financial requirements on a consistent basis.
  • Ongoing development and monitoring of the quality and capability of the international logistics operations to ensure that needs are being met in accordance with key performance indicators.
  • Directing the preparation and negotiation of contracts with solution providers and overseeing negotiations of contracts in partnership with AEO Legal teams, and supporting team members.  
  • Building and scaling logistics operations that enable customer personalization and localization experiences.
  • Building cross-functional partnerships, leveraging insights from various areas of the business to inform planning, processes and growing capability for the international logistics function.
  • Leading and coaching teams through a wide array of topics including business strategy to the tactical execution of the strategy; providing expertise on complex topics, leaning on prior experiences and know-how to guide others to meet or exceed goals.
  • Championing the development of associates, ensuring robust succession plans are developed and in place at all levels of the function.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field. Advanced Degree (Master’s / MBA) preferred.
  • Minimum of 10+ years’ experience working with international markets, preferably within the supply chain 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Inventory Management, Fulfillment Operations, Delivery Management and 3rd Party Relationship Management
  • 5+ years direct experience with Supply Chain/Logistics management, including experience with fulfillment and logistics solution providers
  • Highly proficient in trade practices and cross-country process (international, multi-country) required
  • Demonstrated ability of managing cost performance, supply/demand forecasting; experience working with a large, global retail organization
  • Strong understanding of transportation and supply chain management methods and systems
  • Experience with data-driven analytics, metrics, KPIs to measure and drive results
  • Demonstrated experience leading a diverse, high-performing team which includes fostering “ready now” talent as future successors for key roles
  • Ability to travel extensively, including international, as role needs
  • Fast moving retail and ecommerce business a plus
