POSITION TITLE:               Manager – Central Pricing & MOS     

REPORTS TO:                     Sr. Manager – Operational Support       

DIRECT REPORTS:           5 Central Pricing Analysts, 2 Merchandise Order Specialist Supervisors; total team of 23

 

POSITION SUMMARY / PURPOSE:

Lead and direct the AEO, Inc. Central Pricing Team in the creation and execution of pricing and related strategies for all Brands, Channels (Stores and Direct) and Geos (US, Canada and Mexico).  Lead and direct the Merchandise Order Specialist team in the creation, execution and maintenance of all merchandise purchase orders and related strategies across all Brands, Channels (Stores and Direct) and Geos (US and Canada).  Partner with Merchandising, Merchandise Planning, inventory Planning and Supply Chain leaders to identify opportunities to evolve and streamline execution and processes to ensure support of Brand and Supply Chain initiatives.

As a leader within this team, the Manager of Central Pricing & MOS will also be a key cross-functional partner across the organization and champion/ challenge the team to deliver great value. You will inspire your team and lead efforts to deliver sound operational results; exceeding customer expectations, delivering innovation and developing a talented team.

 

Your responsibilities include:

Central Pricing

  • Leading and guiding the Central Pricing team in creating strategies for accurate and timely execution of all pricing and related price strategies for all Brands, Channels and Geos
  • Partnering with cross-functional Business Strategies, Merchandise Planning and Merchandising leaders to understand and communicate pricing execution timing and strategy
  • Establishing best practices and KPIs for execution and auditing of all pricing to ensure accuracy
  • Partnering with cross-functional Technology partners to ensure system stability and identify/solve system issues with minimal to no business interruption
  • Partnering with Store Ops/ Field to provide pricing communication and solve issues as they arise; leading your team to seek pro-active solutions and delivering improvements that reduce friction and delays
  • Driving evolution of pricing approach and driving strategies that focus on efficiency, accuracy, timeliness and predictability

 

Merchandise Order Process:

  • Leading and supporting Supervisors – Merchandise Order Specialist and Merchandise Order Specialist teams in ensuring timely and accurate execution of merchandise purchase orders including creation, execution of changes and maintenance
  • Working with Supervisors of MOS to identify and accurately resolve issues in a timely way; leading your team to seek pro-active solutions and delivering improvements that reduce friction and delays
  • Identifying, communicating and working closely with MOS team members to implement new strategies and solutions to evolve, streamline and improve purchase order processes with a focus on mitigating risk and driving efficiency
  • Partnering with cross-functional Supply Chain and production partners to ensure accuracy of global purchase order information; ensuring shipping and receipt calendar changes are accurately reflected in purchase orders   

 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Partnering with cross-functional business partners to drive and support strategies and special projects
  • Driving/participating in special projects relates to pricing, purchase orders or movement of inventory
  • Exhibiting leadership qualities to move the business forward through the collective talents and efforts of self and others; communicating clear goals/expectations and standards on an on-going basis including varying levels of communication for direct reports, support teams, associates, cross-functional teams and business-facing updates
  • Empowering team members to deliver results against established goals and priorities, while creating an environment where everyone can do their best work; investing in training and development to create succession opportunities  
  • Leading and guiding career growth and development of team; coaching and providing actionable, timely impact to guide associates in their personal and career development; leading succession-planning efforts to facilitate role progression and organizational goals.

AUTHORITY:

  • Central Pricing final approval
  • Purchase order sign-off
  • Team development and management; personnel decisions

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Logistics, Finance or related field, or equivalent experience. Advanced degree (Master’s / MBA) a plus.
  • 5-8 years specialty retail Allocation, Store and/or Merchandise planning experience.
  • 3 years in prior managerial/supervisory experience
  • In-depth retail math knowledge. Overall retail knowledge and business awareness.
  • Prior experience using Island Pacific, Tradestone and Bamboo Rose tools within a specialty retailer preferred.
  • High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, prioritization, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team and while leading a team.
  • Ability to work with and influence senior management.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
