As an Intern within the Global Supply Chain team at AEO, Inc., you will be responsible for working alongside key leaders within the department to execute various, simultaneous optimization projects. In this assignment, you will report directly to the SVP of Global Supply Chain, Logistics & Services and work with/alongside his leadership team. You will learn, identify, measure and seek out improvements on various supply chain related topics in order to enhance the overall effectiveness of the supply chain.

Examples of optimization projects will likely include:

  • Shipping Optimization – eCommerce is the fastest-growing channel, and currently, shipping expenses drive most of the profitability erosion. You will determine the right mix of revenue, optimization of transport moves and inventory placement defects to drive lower expense structure. 

  • Variety Pack Optimization – You will determine the right configuration of packaging, and arrive at an optimized flow strategy to enable the future supply chain. Recommendations will be presented to key supply chain and distribution center leaders for possible implementation.

Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Attending departmental meetings in order to learn / absorb the inner workings of the function

  • Collecting, cleaning, and analyzing data and metrics in order to draw trends and insights to assist in future planning and process improvements; seeking out existing and new reporting/feedback channels to quantify and validate insights; assimilating findings and recommendations for presentation to leadership

  • Developing, recommending and implementing new processes/enhancements to facilitate greater efficiencies within the department; creating continuous improvement initiatives for greater efficiency and customer delight

  • Working with internal/external teams to measure results and identify areas of opportunity on a continuous and ongoing basis in order to drive revenue

  • Other projects and responsibilities as assigned

  • Business travel may or may not be required – if so, it will be Company paid for/sponsored


  • MBA  /  Computer Science / Math Ph.D. (ideal)

  • Experience working knowledge in supply chain operations a plus

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and operational planning skills; ability to identify trends within large data sets and make recommendations based on data analysis

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to explain processes and problems to arrive at workable solutions

  • Self-motivated and driven; ability to keep pace a fast and deadline-oriented industry/working environment
