POSITION TITLE: Director – Supply Chain Strategic Operations Design (Operations Design) 
REPORTS TO:  VP – Supply Chain Strategy, Planning & Execution
DIRECT REPORTS: Individual Contributors (2) 

As the Director of Supply Chain Strategy, you will play an integral role in identifying, evaluating and implementing transformational initiatives that will sustain, optimize and constantly enhance AEO’s supply chain capabilities in a rapidly evolving environment. In this newly created role, you will work across the global supply chain team to build the operational capabilities required for the supply chain of the future to support and fuel AEO’s long-range growth plans. In addition, you will inspire, develop and lead your team to deliver results in support the Company’s goals. 

Your responsibilities include: 

• Defining/developing the capabilities and enablers for the “supply chain of the future”; testing new scenarios and equipping operations to be ready to perform against heightened capabilities

• Understanding the existing processes in order to define the future state; identifying the key capabilities needed to achieve the department’s vision and goals  

• Performing in-depth analysis to define AEO’s network design and capability plan; leading strategic business analysis to define and sequence capabilities in order to meet AEO’s short and long-term goals

• Collaborating on the design, network and flow operations for in-market/regional DCs; working collaboratively across the Global Supply Chain team to arrive at workable solutions including tests and pilots 

• Determining how the distribution and outbound logistics network works together as an organism; identifying key enablers to ensure the proper sequencing of capabilities including inventory positioning, market demand forecasting, labor forecasting, flow models and how carriers / carrier capability are matched per region  

• Designing the flow of operations, building the roadmap and working across the supply chain as well as with key finance and non-merchandise procurement teams to enable the capabilities

• Creating and enabling strategies that result in rapid processing of freight at the distribution centers, same day/next day delivery models, enhanced delivery experience and personalization 

• Determining how AEO can leverage stores for enhanced delivery services to our customers including last mile delivery; working closely with cross-functional teams including but not limited to Corporate Strategy, Store Operations, Loss Prevention, etc. 

• Developing, prioritizing, sequencing and managing supply chain capabilities; developing a transformational program plan to manage change across the supply chain and enterprise

• Evaluating and securing appropriate funding for growth initiatives including operating expenditure, capital expenditure, etc.

• Overseeing the planning and execution of Global Supply Chain including pre-season planning, freight priorities and mode selection, network inventory balance, predictive inventory movement/placement, floor set movement and coordination

• Designing, aligning and deploying appropriate inventory execution models

• Driving supply chain efficiency/effectiveness as well as solutions to meet ever changing customer service expectations; pushing innovative solutions for the betterment of our Customers as well as in support of the overall business strategy

• Ensuring integration of strategy/process with various cross-functional partners across the Company, including but not limited to Corporate Strategy, Production & Sourcing, Digital Commerce, Technology, Store Operations, International & other internal support teams  

• Design the services – Same Day, Next Day and Boss Operations design capability to drive speed, cost control and convenience

• Fostering collaborative relationships with other leaders and serving as a role model for thought leadership; demonstrating strong personal alignment with the Company’s core values of People, Passion, Innovation, Integrity & Teamwork

• Effectively developing, coaching and leading direct reports to increase bench strength and future succession capability

• Coaching and leading teams through a wide array of topics including business strategy to the tactical execution of the strategy; providing expertise on complex topics, leaning on past experience and know-how to guide others to meet or exceed goals

• Setting the appropriate tone for the organization and effectively managing through periods of change with positive attitude despite ambiguity 

• Interacting with external vendors for the delivery/development of supply chain technology, and/or as a point of resolution on current integrations and platforms

• Other duties as assigned 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or supply chain field. MBA preferred. 
• Minimum of 10 years of experience within Supply Chain Management and/or Logistics 
• Experience working with a large, global Stores organization preferably in a strategy role 
• Strong understanding of warehouse management/order fulfillment systems, and transportation management methods
• Deep knowledge-base of data-driven analytics, metrics, KPIs to measure and drive results
• Demonstrated experience leading a diverse, high-performing team which includes fostering “ready now” talent as future successors for key roles
• Experience effectively managing large projects including capital expenditure and growth projects/initiatives
• Ability to travel, including international 

Experience Requirements:

• Strategic Planning- Strong critical thinking skills, solid experience building strategic plans
• Supply Chain Modeling- Experience within an OMNI-channel environment preferred 
• Leading Across Functions- Successful track record amongst multi-team projects/partners/peers involving other teams/locations 
• Delivering Results- Solid, proven track record of delivering results
• Change Management- Experience leading teams through complex change, challenges the status quo
