As the Director of Supply Chain Execution, you will develop and lead the overall supply chain plan to ensure optimal product flow through AEO’s global supply chain and logistics processes. In this newly created role, you will enhance the predictability and reliability of freight movement by leading your team to anticipate and plan around roadblocks. In addition, you will inspire, develop and lead your team to deliver sound analytics/operations excellence to exceed customer expectations, optimize spend, and deliver innovation.


Your responsibilities include:

  •   Leading the execution of Global Supply Chain including pre-season planning, freight priorities and mode selection, network inventory balance, predictive inventory movement/placement, floor set movement and coordination; including yearly, monthly, and weekly plans and ensuring regular follow-up and accountability against all commitments
       
  •  Building and scaling plans in order to meet both current and future needs as appropriate; adapting to change quickly and adjusting course where required; ensuring integrated business planning in order to bring control to margin and profitability needs
  • Driving pro-active upstream planning with AEO’s Merchandise Planning and Production & Sourcing teams; ensuring alignment of “need by” dates while developing the overall planning for product flow in order to improve predictability and reliability of freight movement and receipts tracking
  • Constantly collaborating with the Global Logistics team (Inbound/Outbound) and Global Distribution Operations team to ensure that we’re holding our internal teams accountable to commitments; consistently hitting “need by” delivery dates and providing on-going coordination/communication with the teams that are key stakeholders for these deliveries
  • Developing and leading AEO’s “chase strategy” from a supply chain execution perspective; selecting modes of operations to best execute this strategy; and working with the Global Inbound Logistics team in order to best execute “chase” product flow into the distribution network
  • Managing the supply chain’s overall spend and variance including the drivers of the variance; working closely with the supply chain accounting and validation teams properly communicate and accrue for financial impacts of any transportation-related spend
  • Developing plans that mitigate late arriving freight / receipts; pulling the right levers to execute various transportation and operating models that provide reliable delivery of freight through all relevant supply chain touch points; adjusting as needed based on the situation, timing and needs of the business
  • Delivering best-in-class peak/holiday performance; collaborating on peak holiday plans across Global Logistics, Global Distribution Operations and Origin Operations and assisting with flawless execution
  • Leading the implementation of various planning tool(s) that provide objective decision planning; leveraging these tools to identify optimal flow strategies to best achieve the Company’s goals including collaborating with AEO’s Merchandise Planning & Allocation teams to execute these flow strategies based on margin and “need by” date requirements
  • Leading your team to work effectively with AEO Merchants and Inventory Planners to evaluate and identify the criticality of freight; effectively prioritizing the flow of goods across the supply chain and communicating across teams for optimal team performance
  • Creating, fostering and contributing to a learning organization; constantly learning from any deviations to plans and performing root cause analysis to better understand the impact of planning and execution decisions/actions
  • Collaborating with the Network Design & Activation team to internalize the changes to the distribution network; continuously creating planning and execution strategies that drive efficiency into and across the overall supply chain
  • Fostering collaborative relationships with other leaders and serving as a role model for thought leadership; demonstrating strong personal alignment with the Company’s core values of People, Passion, Innovation, Integrity & Teamwork
  •  Effectively recruiting, onboarding and assimilating top talent; developing skills and building knowledge within the team to increase bench strength and future succession capability
  • Leading your team through a wide array of topics including business strategy to the tactical execution of the strategy; providing coaching on complex topics, leaning on past experience and know-how to guide others to meet or exceed goals
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain/Logistics, Mathematics or related field
  •  Advanced degree (MBA, Master’s) preferred.
  • 10+ years’ experience in supply chain management, strong experience working planning & execution
  • Prior managerial/supervisory experience required
  • Experience working with a large, global Stores organization
  • Strong understanding of warehouse management/order fulfillment systems/inventory planning, and transportation management methods
  •  Deep knowledge-base of data-driven analytics, metrics, KPIs to measure and drive results
  • Demonstrated experience leading a diverse, high-performing team which includes fostering “ready now” talent as future successors for key roles
  • Ability to travel, including international
