The Developer – Corporate Systems is responsible for implementing, maintaining and supporting technology solutions and software packages used by our state of the art financial systems and networks.  This includes accounting systems, billing systems, sales systems, and applications used for processing.  You will be focused on maintaining, improving and creating applications used by various teams within AEO.


  • Integration of third party software packages with existing systems

  • Design and develop custom software to assist in the integration of separate systems

  • Maintain and support existing applications and software systems

  • Provide “on call” and off hours support for production systems on a rotational basis when assigned

  • Actively participate in all phases of the SDLC including acting as a technical liaison to non-technical business partners

  • Document all phases of work including data flow and input-output diagrams, program block diagrams, screen and report layouts and other program technical specifications using current specified design standards for new or revised application systems

  • Create test plans and scripts, generate test data, unit test, analyze test results and debug programs

  • Solve complex application and programming errors; design and interface problems;  follow up in a timely manner with all appropriate customers and IT personnel

  • Communicate project status to project leader

  • All other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor's Degree (CS, MIS, IS or a related field) or equivalent experience  

  • 2+ years of business programming and analysis experience using existing programming languages and operating systems

  • Retail industry experience is desirable

  • Knowledge of Object Oriented programming

  • Experience working as a strategic business partner to non-technical users

  • Strong desire to continue learning

  • Ideal technical experience would include, but is not limited to the following:

  • IBM iSeries system, libraries, and security experience
    Working Knowledge of RPGLE, CL, using Embedded SQL and DB2 design standards
    Working knowledge of Windows Systems, Servers, Networking and Security
    Experience with BMC CONTROL-M production-scheduling capabilities
    Experience with file transfer methods such as FTP, SFTP, AFT 
    Experience with XML processing
    Familiarity with Infor Lawson financial modules and Island Pacific retail management software
