Role Overview

The UX Generalist is a contract to hire role designed to help recent graduates or those newer to the field develop their skill set across both research and design.

You’ll be working on tasks across different areas of the site on a by-project basis, with mentorship and guidance from senior designers and team leadership.

You’ll conduct research and analyze data to understand customer needs, and use storytelling to articulate findings and recommendations. You’ll also propose

design solutions and experience enhancements through deliverables like wireframes, flow diagrams, and sketches. The Generalist role will work with UX

Designers and UX Researchers on projects, with support from UX Leadership.

 

Responsibilities

UX Design - 50%

  • Understand customer needs and objectives across the customer journey
  • Identify opportunities and explore design solutions for effectiveness and usability
  • Generate wireframes and interactive prototyping at all levels of fidelity (from sketch to finished prototype)
  • Create and run usability testing and communicate findings
  • Plan interaction design and document for development handoff
  • Present design solutions using clear, effective storytelling and communication, highlighting customer needs and demonstrating the value of recommendations

 

UX Research – 30%

  • Identify appropriate research objectives and activities to achieve project goals, with support from UX Research leadership
  • Assist other user researchers with various user research preparation activities
  • Report on user research at the appropriate fidelity (from ad hoc requests to formal stakeholder reviews) and facilitate discussions related to findings
  • Support other research activities to inform project work (competitive audits, internal metrics review, etc.)
  • Help transition findings into ideas and actions for UX Design or cross-functional efforts
  • Detail-oriented and ability to work independently on a variety of tasks

 

Work Planning and Project Management – 20%

  • Manage timelines and priorities for individual tasks
  • Attend and facilitate necessary meetings and present UX design / research work as needed to cross-functional partners
  • Understand customer risks and trade-offs on projects in an Agile environment
  • Daily collaboration with creative design, product management, and UX team leads to plan, execute and deliver project work
