American Eagle Outfitters Inc. is seeking a Gen-Z-obsessed strategist and creative individual to join our award-winning social media team. This is an exciting, newly created role for someone who lives all things social media and culture and has interest in emerging trends like crypto, NFTs and the metaverse.

Our Associate Manager of Social, Culture & Brand Engagement will be responsible for keeping an active pulse on identifying and monitoring cultural trends across all social media platforms to influence responsive content creation for American Eagle. They will generate ideas and content recommendations that help shape how we create content to support long-term business objectives as well as last-minute requests.

They should have a strong background in copywriting as they will own our voice in comment sections, manage and grow our Twitter to have cultural impact, and contribute to overall copy for posts & content. Interacting and engaging with our community on social media will be a major priority and is critical to success for this role.  

They will be responsible for generating frequent reports and insights regarding Gen-Z and our customers that are used to help influence creative decisions and provide insights to senior leadership teams on trending topics.



  • Provide consistent monitoring, reporting and responsive tactical content creation ideas related to cultural moments and trends relevant to American Eagle.
  • Act as in-house consultant and strategist on all topics related to and including but not limited to Gen-Z, Gen-Alpha, and emerging media platforms like AR, NFTs, crypto, and web3.
  • Own the cultural calendar for AE to ensure we are developing best-in-class ideas across key moments throughout the year that are relevant to our customers and also position us as timely and relevant.
  • Manage and own how AE responds, likes, comments, communicates across social media to UG content, comments on posts that tag / mention us and how to develop and utilize UG content on our own feeds.
  • Concept and develop ideas for furthering our approach on YouTube through seasonal campaigns, dedicated shoots, NCAA partnerships etc.
  • Further develop and contribute to our voice on Twitter including developing tweets, creating and ideating spaces, introducing TW commerce.
  • Be able to show and explain your ideas around short-form content platforms (TikTok, IGS, Reels, Snap) by actually executing them yourself from time-to-time.
  • Manage the time, output and effectiveness of a junior associate / coordinator.
  • On occasion, you may be asked to provide social monitoring during key cultural moments throughout the year and this may occur on nights and weekends.


  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited 4-year university is preferred.
  • At least 2 years post college experience in a professional role at an agency or brand strongly preferred.
  • You have an active social presence across multiple social channels and a personality to match it.
  • You think like Gen-Z and know how to speak to them.
  • A to-be-confirmed ability to write and draft copy for social media.
  • The ability to create content, natively, within TikTok, Reels and other video platforms is required.
  • Professional experience in powerpoint, excel, google slides, google docs strongly preferred.
  • A positive, excited and enthusiastic attitude about your work and the work of others around you.
