POSITION SUMMARY:

As the Associate Art Director for International, you guide and supply digital creative for 10 international regions and growing, ensuring the integrity of the AE brand around the world. You will be responsible for digesting seasonal direction from the ae.com Art Directors and creating powerful website, email, and other digital content for international markets. A confident, articulate creative with strong attention to detail, you provide forthright, daily feedback and guidelines to creative partners in each country to bring our seasonal campaigns to life. Time spent in this role will be approximately 50% art directing and providing feedback to franchise partners; 30% designing unique solutions for the international business; and 20% planning, collaborating and relationship building.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work daily with the ae.com Art Directors to understand imagery usage, brand voice and copy, typography and color stories, etc. that amount to the seasonal aesthetic of both AE and aerie.
  • Present seasonal direction and style guides to international partners in monthly meetings.
  • Implement ongoing art review processes to review international creative on an ongoing basis, paying close attention to seasonal launches while also giving feedback on day-to-day touchpoints, focused heavily on email marketing.
  • Evangelize mobile, desktop and email creative best practices and ongoing digital design trends in retail fashion and e-commerce marketing and guide international partners to achieve them.
  • Create powerful, on-brand website, email, and other digital creative to support unique international business needs using strong design and typography skills.
  • Collaborate with designers, copywriters, business strategists, and brand managers to ensure visuals and copy are synergized, telling focused brand stories, and fulfilling the needs of each brief.
  • Attend domestic art reviews, presenting creative work to Creative Directors and VPs to gain alignment with the domestic creative team.
  • Be the lead creative partner on international e-commerce launches, ensuring all technical and brand creative requirements are met including close partnership with UX/UI Designers to ensure the ae.com standards are brought to life internationally.
  • Adapt quickly and maintain accuracy through frequent updates and promotional changes.
  • Partner with the photo studio to request image assets and submit shoot requests.
  • Research current design and graphics trends in fashion and marketing and how these apply to various international markets.
  • Understand current trends in social media, fashion, and relevant culture.
  • Other projects and responsibilities as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Communication Design or related
  • A portfolio demonstrating a passion for digital design and a mastery of online visual communication
  • 7+ years of experience in digital design experience (Retail and international experience preferred)
  • Expert level knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Invision, and related design tools
  • Experience using and designing into Content Management Systems (CMS) a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, project management & planning skills
  • Collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting
  • Passion for retail and knowledge of the AEO Inc. family of brands
