Position Summary:

 

As an Analyst of Validation at AEO, Inc., you will be a key member of the Supply Chain Services and Excellence team and provide business insights that drive the validation of $1.25+ billion in annual merchandise payments. You will be responsible for assessing and optimizing auditing processes that drive efficiency to meet AEO’s contractual goals while reducing risk and improving compliance across the entire supplier base. 

 

Your responsibilities include:

 

  • Manage and analyze daily first cost payment volume, ensure processing completed and funding effected by the due date to meet the contractual obligation of the merchandise purchase order. 
  • Review monthly vendor performance metrics; facilitate coaching in collaboration with Vendor Relations with non-compliant suppliers to drive performance improvement leading to a friction free process and reduction in charge backs assessed. Communicate pertinent issues and details to Sourcing team and leadership. 
  • Ownership of all standard process exception requests, being flexible in resolution while assessing sustainability to define a long term process that is workable by AEO and the supplier.  
  • Work with banking partners, AEO Treasury and Accounting to develop and implement synergistic process improvements and adjustments to ensure that data transmissions are accurate, streamlined and encompass all needs for seamless funding of merchandise payments.
  • Analyze and capture current published LIBOR rates, collaborate with Treasury to ensure industry alignment, adjust AEO’s early payment terms discount rate on a bi-yearly cadence and communicate the changes to the supplier base. 
  • Identify process improvement needs, communicate and detail requirements to Project management team and act as the point person to delivery and completion. 
  • Ownership of key performance metrics and the development of new metrics to ensure data portrays an accurate picture of the status of current and outstanding payables to identify lags in the process for additional supplier coaching. 
  • Be agile in decision-making, considering risk mitigation while collaborating with Accounting and Treasury to ensure positive cash flow management. 
  • Collecting, cleaning, and analyzing data in order to draw trends and insights to assist in future process improvements; liaise with manager and present findings and recommendations.
  • Actively participate in the onboarding of new suppliers, provide training on all first cost related processes to encourage compliance to maintain an efficient standard process and communicate any outliers to AEO Sourcing team. 
  • Develop, recommend and implement new processes/enhancements to facilitate greater efficiencies within the department creating continuous improvement initiatives for increased compliance with AEO’s vendor base and cost savings. 
  • Work with Trade & Regulatory to positively affect the customs clearance process while managing Vendor Referrals associated to merchandise shipments. 
  • Maintain all internal and external SOPs for payment related processes, as well as, ensure regular updates are made to the Sarbanes Oxley narrative and the vendor facing Corporate Vendor Manual.
  • Additional responsibilities and projects as assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain/Logistics or related field
  • 2-4 years’ experience in supply chain accounting operations; analytics
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills; ability to identify trends within large data sets and make recommendations based on analysis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to explain required processes and problems to internal and external partners to arrive at workable solutions
  • Self-motivated and driven; ability to keep pace a fast and deadline-oriented industry/working environment
