The Tax Compliance Analyst is mainly responsible for sales and use tax compliance, with the potential to assist with GST/HST, value added tax, and personal property tax compliance.  This position will also assist the Indirect Tax team with the related tax audits associated with compliance.  The candidate will be required to develop an understanding of our enterprise tax software (Vertex O-Series) and procurement system (Ariba).   


  • Prepare sales and use tax compliance reports. 
  • Review and approve tax return work papers from outsourced partners.
  • Gather and review fixed asset data for personal property tax compliance.
  • Assist with GSH/HST and value added tax compliance, as needed.   
  • Assist with store business license compliance.
  • Prepare monthly general ledger account reconciliations. 
  • Maintain tax codes for company locations within Lawson, Ariba and Vertex.
  • Monitor and research state and local tax law changes and analyze impact on tax compliance.
  • Assist with tax audits by compiling records, reconciling data to the general ledger, and reviewing auditor work papers.  
  • Assist with personal property tax and business license audits. 
  • Review Accounts Payable invoices for proper payment of sales/use tax. 
  • Resource for indirect tax questions from other areas of the business. 


  • Minimum 3-5 years of general sales and use tax compliance experience.
  • Knowledge of Vertex sales tax reporting package (O series) a plus.
  • Knowledge of other procurement/accounting software desirable (e.g., Ariba/Lawson).
  • Experience with property tax and business license compliance.
  • Experience with handling indirect tax audits is desirable.
  • Ability to perform tax research. 
  • Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office products and Microsoft Windows.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field a plus.  
  • Self-motivated with strong analytical, prioritization, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with others and work well in a team environment.
