As an Analyst of Inbound Operations at AEO, Inc., you will be a key member of the Global Logistics team and provide daily support to ensure the movement of 246M+ units worldwide annually. You will collaborate and communicate with overseas and domestic vendors, as well as various internal teams, to ensure the timely flow of goods/freight, the accurate clearance of shipments for all product and the timely completion of shipping instructions to third party service providers. Your efforts will contribute to the reliable and predictable delivery of freight into the distribution network and ensure speed, cost and service enhancements to our Company and customer.  


Your responsibilities include:

  • Supporting and executing solid day-to-day inbound operational actions (including but not limited to: shipment planning, customs clearance, dray, transload, truck and rail); ensuring the successful movement of goods from our vendors into the DC network 
  • Continuously collaborating within the Global Logistics team, as well as across the broader Global Supply Chain teams, and with various partners to effectively service internal customers; delivering all freight/product on time and in a cost effective manner with minimal delays or service failures
  • Prioritizing transportation-related tasks in order to optimize velocity and improve the predictability of freight arrivals; executing the inbound operational plan on a consistent basis and ensuring a high degree of follow through on all assigned areas of responsibility 
  • Facilitating daily, on-going correspondence between vendors and forwarders; ensuring booking procedures are followed, timely delivery of sailing schedules and all requests for information are being responded to quickly and accurately to prevent delays and mitigate failures 
  • Collaborating with third-party logistics providers on daily operations (including but not limited to space allocation, effective routings, etc.) and performing necessary troubleshooting; ensuring risks are mitigated and/or communicated to the proper parties in advance of negatively impacting the business 
  • Collaborating with overseas vendors, as well as external partners, to resolve documentation issues related to the clearance of merchandise; working closely with the Global Trade Management team to ensure vendor referrals are being handled appropriately in order to facilitate timely customs clearance 
  • Utilizing dashboards and reporting tools to proactively track and trace shipment activities; ensuring strong, consistent and reliable operational execution;  assisting with inbound logistical delays and ensuring accurate and timely communication to the business 
  • Monitoring and resolving transportation related EDI data discrepancies and errors through AEO’s data repository in order to ensure accurate and timely in-transit information; communicating discrepancies to appropriate parties to ensure proactive and additional planning can occur where required  / able 
  • Reviewing daily status reports from airfreight forwarders and ocean consolidators; ensuring on time performance & facilitating communication between the Inbound team and external partners as needed
  • Ensuring all third party partners comply with timely and accurate billing submissions; collaborating with the Supply Chain Services & Excellence team as well as the Supply Chain Accounting team to ensure disputes are resolved in a timely manner 
  • Collaborating daily with the Domestic Inbound Transportation team to ensure a seamless transition of freight and operational responsibilities; facilitating strong communication between all supply chain teams in order to support fluid and streamlined supply chain operations 
  • In partnership with the Manager of Inbound Operations, ensuring timely communication of market disruptions to the appropriate internal parties; proactively providing solutions in order to mitigate delays and sales risk as needed 
  • Developing and implementing new operational processes/enhancements that facilitate greater efficiencies within the department and supply chain; specifically fostering enhancements to cost, speed and service for our internal/external customers   
  • Leveraging data and analytics to identify opportunities that improve trade lane routing, increase velocity and reduce overall transportation costs while improving service; striving for good, better, best always  
  • Assisting the Supply Chain Leadership team in determining network capacity needs (both immediate and longer term) in order to best support internal/external customers and the needs of the business 
  • In partnership with the Carrier Relations team, and at the direction of the Manager of Inbound Operations, participating in the procurement process of logistical service provider including business opportunity analysis, requests-for-proposals, contract negotiations, and ongoing management of vendor relationship as needed 
  • In partnership with the Manager of Inbound Operations, reviewing carrier scorecards to manage vendors against their established SLAs; identifying any root cause exceptions/outliers in carrier performance in order to create/initiate action plans that assist in resolving service issues 
  • Additional responsibilities and projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain/Logistics or related field
  • 1-3 years’ experience in supply chain operations and / or working with third party logistics providers 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and operational planning skills; ability to identify trends within large data sets and make recommendations based on data analysis 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to explain logistical processes and problems to non-practitioners and arrive at workable solutions 
  • High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications
  • Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within and across teams 
  • Self-motivated and driven; ability to keep pace a fast and deadline-oriented industry/working environment
  • Highly organized and efficient with strong attention to detail; strong record of timely, consistent follow-through on all assigned responsibilities 
  • Customs and vendor compliance experience preferred 
  • Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) preferred
  • Certified in Supply Chain Management (CSCM) or LEAN/Six Sigma preferred
