POSITION SUMMARY:
The Store Testing & Category Analyst is responsible for the design, execution and analysis of promotional, merchandising, and marketing tests. The Analyst will ensure testing results are accurate and reliable using predictive analytics best practices and methodologies.  This role will then produce actionable analysis and communicate recommendations that identify sales and profit opportunities of tested ideas and initiatives. 


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate and coordinate the activities of the merchandising, marketing and planning teams to design and implement the most effective and predictive testing strategies
  • Ensure that sound statistical and mathematical concepts are applied and analytical tools are used appropriately when producing test results
  • Use analytical tools to segment results, understand performance across different subsets, and call out any anomalies to understand counterintuitive findings
  • Present / provide analytical findings and recommendations to cross functional partners to affect future business decisions with clear and thoughtful presentation materials
  • Provide ad-hoc customer analyses to address specific questions from stakeholder groups:  marketing, strategy, merchandising and planning
  • Track changes in basket composition (including product attachments) and identify the driving factors
  • Identify opportunities to add value to the business with both standardized and ad hoc transactional analysis and reporting
  • Additional projects and responsibilities as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Statistics, or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience in a business, pricing, and/or product analyst role; or experience conducting market basket and/or pricing analyses, or predictive modeling for retail or consumer scenarios
  • Strong understanding of retail math and metrics
  • Strong understanding of statistical concepts, specifically test vs. control, pre vs. post methodologies
  • Proficiency in extracting and mining data and the technical/analytical skills to translate data into actionable plans
  • Analytical rigor – analytical mindset with critical attention to detail and curiosity orientation
  • Strong analytical problem solving and decision making skills
  • Self-motivated; solve open ended business questions given little information
  • Success managing multiple objectives and priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated collaborative and project management skills and the ability to work well within a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; Excel skills should be advanced
    Experience in APT (Applied Predictive Technologies) software a plus
