Accountant - Accounts Receivable Focused

POSITION SUMMARY:

This role will be involved all receivables activities and is focused on ensuring all items are invoiced and collected timely, while continuously driving efficiency in the processes.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Generate and distribute accurate and timely invoices and account statements to customers
  • Own the billing and accounts receivable module setup for each customer, ensuring that all components are correctly mapped to the general ledger.
  • Record and apply payments timely within AEO’s billing software.
  • Analyze outstanding customer balances and maintain good working relationships with customers and internal business partners to resolves collection disputes
  • Responsible for preparation of monthly account reconciliations and journal entries
  • Continuously evaluating processes and procedures in order to drive efficiency for both AEO and our customers.
  • Evaluating credit worthiness of potential customers using a variety of tools and analytics.
  • Coordinate and complete information requests for financial audits from finance business partners
  • Responsible for Sarbanes-Oxley internal control compliance
  • Establish and maintain policies and procedures, including documentation and training.
  • Complete ad hoc financial projects as requested by Management
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Accounting or Finance Degree
  • 2+ years of Accounting experience, prior Accounts Receivable experience a plus
  • Experience with Oracle, AS400, Lawson, Trintech account reconciliation software and Island Pacific is a plus
  • High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite & Outlook
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.  
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team
  • Ability to work with and influence peers and senior management
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
